We Love Our Clinics: Bringing Expert, Compassionate ALS Care Closer to Home

At ALS United Greater Chicago, we know that navigating an ALS diagnosis can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’re proud to partner with six multidisciplinary ALS clinics across Illinois to help make expert, compassionate care easier to access, right in your own community.

Multidisciplinary clinics bring together specialists from many areas—neurology, physical and occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, nutrition, speech-language pathology, and more—all in one visit. A Care Services Coordinator from our team is also there to help you navigate the ALS journey and connect with resources. This coordinated approach means less travel, less stress, and more personalized support for you and your loved ones.

As one clinic attendee shared, “We love all our ALS navigators. Our ALS visits at the clinic are very helpful to move you through this difficult process.”

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’ve been able to expand clinic hours and availability to meet growing demand.

In 2024, visits increased by 19% compared to last year, helping nearly 600 people access the care they need. Some clinics now meet weekly instead of just a few times per month, while others have added full days to serve more patients.

We are especially grateful to a generous anonymous donor who pledged a $25,000 matching gift to launch our “We Love Our Clinics” campaign this February. Their kindness inspired our community to come together in an extraordinary way, raising more than $140,000 to support this vital care. More than 300 new donors joined us, helping ensure families continue to receive the support they need.

And from Dr. Kourosh Rezania, Director of the University of Chicago ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic: “The generosity of our donors makes a profound difference in the lives of individuals with ALS. Your support strengthens our ability to provide comprehensive care, advance research, and bring hope to those facing this challenging disease.”

To everyone who supported this campaign: thank you. You are helping make sure that individuals living with ALS across our region continue to receive the expert, coordinated care they deserve.
