Support Courage and Community – Meet Susan
I want to share with you the inspiring story of Susan Blaha, an individual who embodies the spirit of courage in the face of ALS.
Susan, diagnosed with ALS in 2009, has faced this challenging journey with strength and resilience. Susan, along with her husband Jeff, has been an active member of the Greater Chicagoland Support Group for years. Her infectious smile has been a beacon of hope and warmth at every meeting.
In 2019, Susan and Jeff represented our community in Washington, D.C., advocating for individuals and caregivers affected by ALS. They’ve also played a crucial role in raising awareness through events like Lou Gehrig Day with the Chicago White Sox and ALS Walk events in their community.
In recognition of her extraordinary courage, I was honored to present Susan with the Iron Horse ALS Courage Award. Her story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of community support. Susan’s message to others living with ALS reflects her wisdom and compassion: “Live each day as it comes, day-by-day. And don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
We invite you to be a part of this incredible journey by supporting ALS United Greater Chicago. Your donation will help individuals like Susan access vital resources, contribute to spreading awareness, and foster a supportive community for those facing the challenges of ALS.
